چکیده

Abstract Aim Plastic surgery as a speciality is afflicted with one of the highest incidence rates thromboembolic events, abdominoplasty procedures known to assimilate greatest Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). Method A total 1078 patients were enrolled onto an 8-point prophylaxis protocol inclusive holistic approach over 7- year period. 4-week smoking, HRT and COC cessation period was imposed on all maximum BMI score 40 required preoperative patients. Participants administered compression stockings, flowtrons enoxaparin. Individuals DVT history also be 1-year treatment free prior surgery. Furthermore, necessitated post-operative deambulation fit within 4 hours. Results Between 2008 2013, no recorded in patients, indicating potential for this lead significantly lower than any previously published methodology. Due zero-incidence rate DVT, different hypotheses proportions tested find out that could statistically consistent our sample, thereby providing conservative estimates. Conclusions This first non-criteria based aimed at preventing abdominoplasty-associated DVT. As result, not single incident seven-year study. We therefore believe procedure-specific can drastically reduce occurrence

Clues to DVT pathogenesis.

In this issue of Blood, Brill and colleagues demonstrate that von Willebrand factor (VWF) release and subsequent platelet adhesion to endothelial cells are required for thrombus formation in a mouse model of deep venous thrombosis (DVT).

DVT: A New Era in Anticoagulation Therapy DVT: A New Era in Anticoagulant Therapy

March is deep vein thrombosis awareness month in the United States. To mark this event, this issue of Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology contains a series of reviews on new anticoagulants that either are in development or have been approved for clinical use. Particularly exciting are the new oral inhibitors of thrombin (dabigatran etexilate) and factor Xa (rivaroxaban). Thrombos...

DVT: A New Era in Anticoagulant Therapy DVT: A New Era in Anticoagulant Therapy

Thrombosis is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the Western world. Arterial thrombosis leads to myocardial infarction and stroke. Arterial clots are platelet-rich and fibrin-poor (so-called white clots). They are generated at sites of vascular injury under high shear rates and are prevented or treated with antiplatelet drugs.1 However, because of the fact that the thrombin is a po...

Endovascular Therapies in Acute DVT

Traditionally, DVTs have been treated with the use of oral anticoagulation medication (such as warfarin) for a period of 6 months. However, this is associated with a high risk for recurrent thrombosis, and approximately one third will develop post thrombotic syndrome despite treatment (Prandoni et al 1996). The recurrence of DVT is thought to be related to damage to the venous valves during an ...
